minotto

The work (often artists refer to their paintings as "work" - makes it sound more important) in the mid 90's incorporates both approaches, often in large scale up to 9' x 8' (2.7m x 2.4m) and at times, due to the size, are almost cinematic in scope. Aside from a mostly diagrammatic approach to composition, a greenish-grey background is the common element that unites them all -
the void of nothingness from which all things come from (to be Zen about it).

In addition to my sketch books, the imagery came from a diversity of sources: advertisements from magazines, diagrams from 1960's text books, cartoon stills from Warner Brother's cartoons, illustrations from old children's books, religious pamphlets handed out by born-again christians (they were always surprised when i would always ask for extras), obscure instruction manuals for things that aren't used anymore, and every painting had a reference to Elvis (as in Elvis Presley), though it was not always obvious, like Alfred Hitchcock in the background of his movies. (Elvis as Jesus as Elvis as ...)

These were the most popular, ending up in collections from NY to CA.
Here is one hanging somewhere in the Harvard Business School .
